Ideal for light - medium weight horses & ponies

Sale price£70.70Regular price £101.00

When should I use a heavyweight turnout rug?

A 300g turnout rug is designed for horses that require maximum warmth during the coldest part of winter.

We generally recommend heavyweight turnout rugs for prolonged periods of sub-zero temperatures, clipped horses living out, older horses, and those that struggle to maintain condition during winter.

For many horses, a medium weight turnout rug will provide sufficient warmth throughout much of the winter. A 300g turnout rug is best reserved for genuinely cold conditions when additional insulation is needed.

Matching detachable neck covers are available separately, allowing you to increase coverage and protection during the coldest and wettest winter conditions.

Many horse owners choose to add a neck cover during colder weather to provide additional protection and warmth around one of the most exposed areas of the horse.

Can I use a rug liner with a heavyweight turnout rug?

No. Our Epic Essential turnout range is not currently compatible with our rug liner system.

Heavyweight Turnout Rugs

Heavyweight turnout rugs provide 300g of insulation and are designed for horses that require maximum warmth during the coldest winter conditions. They are commonly used during prolonged periods of sub-zero temperatures, for clipped horses living out, older horses, and those that struggle to maintain condition throughout the winter months.

A 300g turnout rug is not necessarily the right choice for every horse. Many horses remain comfortable in lighter weights throughout much of the winter, which is why we generally recommend heavyweight turnout rugs only when additional insulation is genuinely needed.

Like every turnout rug we design, our heavyweight turnout rugs are built around real horse measurements rather than generic sizing. Available in both Broad Fit and Regular Fit, our heavyweight turnout rugs are designed to sit comfortably through the chest and shoulders, provide full coverage through the body, and allow unrestricted freedom of movement in the field.

Matching detachable neck covers are also available separately, providing additional coverage and protection during cold, wet, and windy weather.
