Our Classic Sweet Itch Rug is designed to give as much coverage as possible to protect your horses against biting insects and sun bleaching without overheating. It’s ideal for broad, heavy horses with the sweet itch allergy.
Made from a tough and durable 900 denier outer, it’s lightweight and highly breathable to ensure your horse stays cool comfortable and protected. Soft antibacterial, anti-static lining over the mane, chest and shoulder area, and tail flap, help prevent rubbing and protects your horse's coat, maintaining its natural shine and health.
Our fit-first design gives your horse complete freedom of movement. A more generous cut neckline that follows your horse’s natural shape and extra large shoulder gussets give your horse unrestricted comfort without tightness or rubbing for everyday use. Giving your horse full head-to-tail protection, the fixed integrated neck cover features an extended length to match your horses natural neck extension as they graze, preventing any gaps for biting insects to get in.
No more mini skirts! All of our rugs have the correct rug depth so your horse is fully covered and protected from the elements, including a substantial tail flap.
Security features include twin chest buckles with D rings allowing you to customise the fit depending on your horses chest size. Adjustable belly piece to keep the rug secure during turnout whilst protecting the belly area, and adjustable, detachable leg straps giving you the option to have a tail fillet strap if you prefer.

Supposed to be broad fit but it’s still very tight on my boys chest, the quality of the rug is great just a shame it’s so tight. If I could have been bothered to send it back I would have done.
Excellent durable quality. My 175cm and 950kg Brabant horse normally tears his flyrugs within days, but this one is holding up just fine even after weeks of use. The fitting is amazing - first time ever he had proper room för his shoulders and it stays in place! The 7’6 is just slightly long but it doesn’t seem to matter. Will order more despite the additional customs!
Brilliant fit for my chunky girl, I also like the different colours, so can swap over and rotate rugs. Have recently bought two of the sweetitch rugs and also a shower proof sweet itch. Louise rocking it.

It's the only rug of its type that fits my broad cob, it's got space where bigger horses need it and is superb quality. The fittings and material are second to none. No scrimping on material either, she now has plenty of room to move, if she can be bothered :)
After buying 4 Boett Rugs for my Clydesdale mare that she destroyed into tatters I decided to buy the big horse shop sweetitch rug and wow it’s been a life saver. I have to say she has ripped a part of the tail but it’s still functional. By far the best rug I have ever bought. Thanks to Gemma for her advice.
After purchasing more expensive rugs In the past £200+ for each one and was wrecked within a matter of days I finally purchased the epic Sweetitch rug in 7’3” and it’s been perfect, only one little tear on the ear where she caught herself on the door hinge. This rug is a saviour as the weather is still mild and lots of midges around and she’s hardly bothered to scratch.

Würde mir wünschen,das bei den Decken auch einen Schutz für den Schlauch gibt.
I have struggled to get a rug to fit my Comtois x cob he is 15hh and square. Tried other makes on him but either too short in the depth of the skirt or too long up the neck! Enter The Big Horse Shop Ltd Epic range Broad fit. Hooray fits him perfectly 🥰

I always struggle to find rugs to fit my mare properly and with her being a big girl I end up spending a fortune only for them to not fit her properly!
This rug fits her lovely and she’s got plenty of room for movement too. This is my second big horse shop rug and if my bank balance allowed it I would replace her whole wardrobe!

Love this rug so much, my Shire x WB lives in this during the summer and his cheeky field mate hasn’t pulled holes in this yet ! We are in year two of this rug. Lots of adjustment, easy to wash it’s a well made rug I love the Epic rugs as they fit him. Would like more lining over the shoulders but that’s being fussy sizeing is generous but I kept it as my boy is still growing and this year it still fits.

High quality rug, and a great fit for my draft. The details are very well done, with extra room for shoulder and, which I have never been alle to find for a large horse. These will become my go for sure.
For a really heavy, slightly chubby draft like my Jutlander gelding, one size up would probably have been beneficial.
Brilliant fit, super helpful customer service. Plenty of adjustability at the front (I have a not-so-broad but quite tall shire). She’s been a little warm in it when the wind drops at 20+ degrees but I plan to clip her so not a problem.
Looks lovely with nice material however had to return as its not a broad enough fit for my solid cob 🙄, the tummy straps would not do up and he is not even fat at the moment. Also the neck was a bit too long for him and i think would have ended up in his eyes.

I have recently bought a broad fit sweet itch rug and 2 0g rugs and a ride on fly rug and an exercise sheet. What can I say the 0g rugs are the best ever I have not had a 0g that has not leaked through in heavy rain this one does not leak through.
The quality is impressive the fit is fantastic for my big Irish cob. I won’t be shopping anywhere else for rugs again. 100% recommend.
My horse is a seriously big, solidly built 16hh heavyweight cob and the 6ft 9in Broad fit is a very comfortable fit for him. It's beautifully made and is superb quality. Very good value for money but, more than that, worth its weight in gold to have a rug that fits such a big lad so beautifully. Thank you so much for catering for our big horses.
A last minute purchase before a show. The rug itself is lovely, great material and well made but sadly the 6’3” even broad fit wasn’t big enough for my 16.1hh 3yo WB. Hairs left when trying on mean I can’t return it but tempted to buy a bigger one.
