Innovative zebra stripes inspired by the research of Susanne Åkesson and Tim Caro naturally deter flies, midges and biting insects from landing on your horse. With an integrated neck cover and an added belly piece, this fly rug provides an exceptional head-to-tail shield to reduce summer stress.
Unlike off-the-shelf sizing, every rug in our Broad Fit range is developed using measurements taken from real broader, heavier horses — so the fit is precise, not guesswork. Our fit-first design gives your horse complete freedom of movement, with a larger cut neckline to accommodate a broader chest, thick muscular neck and big shoulders. Lower chest fastenings that follow your horse's natural shape, eliminating pressure at the neck and over the wither. Extra large shoulder gussets give your horse unrestricted comfort without tightness or rubbing. The fixed integrated neck cover, designed specifically for muscular necks and long manes, features an extended length to match your horse's natural neck extension as they graze, preventing any gaps for biting insects to get in.
No more mini skirts! All of our rugs have the correct rug depth so your horse is fully covered and protected from the elements, including a substantial tail flap.

My new horse is a chunky monkey and I'd been using another brand, mainly because recommended. Unfortunately they were out of stock , so decided to take a leap of faith and switch to The Big Horse Shop - this rug is so well made and is the best fit he has had - will be going back to see what else I might need!!

Only thing, if you have a really chunky, heavy draft type, one size or even two sizes up would be a giod idea. I went up one size, and slightly more room for shoulder / neck would have been good.
Fabulous fly rug that fits my Irish Cob perfectly! Love how adjustable it is, you can really customise the fit both around the front and belly. Super high quality fabric too. Very impressed!
Great fit
So pleased they actually work, horses are less stressed by the flies and go out during the day. Easy to put on, and they stay in place. Could do with some zebra patterned clothes for humans! Excellent.

I absolutely love this Epic Classic Zebra Fly Rug with the belly piece! It's one of the best fly rugs I've bought. The zebra pattern really seems to help keep the flies away, and the full belly flap gives excellent coverage and protection.
The fit is fantastic, it's lightweight and breathable, and my horse is comfortable wearing it all day, even in warm weather. It stays in place well without rubbing, which is always a big plus.
The quality is excellent and it feels durable enough to last the whole fly season. My horse is much happier and more relaxed in the field since wearing it.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this rug again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a well-fitting, effective fly rug with great all-round protection.

I wanted a fly rug that didn't fit snugly to my American Quarter Horses' shoulders and I've finally found one. Three very happy horses!
My Shire usually wears a Big Horse Sweet Itch rug, but in the recent heatwave its close weave fabric was making him sweat a lot, so I decided to swap to this lighter weight zebra fly rug with belly flap, as my cob already has one. The fit is excellent on him and he has been a lot cooler in it. The neck section is very generous, as is the tail flap.
Best of all, I ordered it at 11am and it arrived the next afternoon. Excellent service.
