How to Measure Your Horse for the Best Rug Fit

Use a fabric tape measure or twine for precision.
Start at the center of the chest, where the rug would fasten.
Measure along the side of the body, following the curve of the shoulder, in a straight line to the furthest point of the hindquarters - not all the way to the tail. We recommend placing a broom behind your horse's hind and measuring to that point.
For the most accurate results, measure in centimeters and take the measurement 2-3 times.

Broad Fit – Perfect for medium+, heavy horses / ponies, and draft breeds with deep barrels, broad chests, and muscular builds.
Regular Fit – Designed for light - medium weight horses and ponies with a regular sized chest and neck.

With our exclusive size charts and deep-cut designs, you’ll find a rug that truly fits.

We always recommend trying an item on before use, especially when trying a different style. This is in case you need to return it for a smaller size, you are able to do so. If your horse is in-between sizes, we recommend opting for the bigger size, however, with horse rugs that have a back seam, they sit more contoured to the horse's body which can sometimes give a more generous fit. Some customers have found they can sometimes go down 1 size in rugs with a back seam when their horse is in-between sizes.

Perfect for mild but dropping temperatures, this lightweight 40g turnout rug offers your heavy horse an ideal balance of insulation and breathability. A light layer of fill helps prevent the build-up of internal condensation, which can otherwise give the illusion of leaking particularly on warm-bodied horses.

Crafted from premium-quality fabrics and fittings with a high waterproof and breathability rating, this rug is part of our budget-friendly Epic Essential range providing everyday protection and comfort without compromising on quality.

Alongside its performance outer, each Essential turnout rug includes a waterproof membrane for extra defence against the elements, helping to keep your horse dry and comfortable in unpredictable spring or autumn weather.

For a secure and customisable fit, the rug features twin chest buckles with adjustable quick clips, low cross surcingles, and removable, adjustable leg straps.

Our Epic Essential turnout rugs are also finished with an antibacterial and antistatic treated lining to maintain coat health and shine, attachment points for a detachable neck cover (sold separately) to boost protection during rain, and a supersized tail flap designed for the classic apple-bottom.

As part of our exclusive broad fit range, this rug is tailored specifically for horses with big shoulders, muscular necks, and deep barrels, eliminating pressure points and giving your horse the freedom to move naturally, comfortably, and safely.
