Our Classic 50g Turnout Rug is designed for versatility and maximum all-weather protection during everyday turnout. It’s our extra light weight with 50g thermo-bonded filling, ideal for mild and dropping temperatures, or as a base with our adaptable rug liner system.
A light filling such as 40g or 50g is always recommended when temperatures start to drop as this can help against condensation build up on the inside of the rug.
Made using a tough and durable 1200 denier outer fabric coated with Dupont™ Teflon® fabric protector to repel dirt and water. It’s highly breathable and waterproof with a rating of 7,000mm+ / 5,000g/m2+ and an added waterproof membrane for enhanced weather protection. The antibacterial, anti-static lining protects your horse's coat, maintaining its natural shine and health.
Our fit-first design gives your horse complete freedom of movement, with a larger cut neckline to accommodate a broader chest, thick muscular neck and big shoulders. Lower chest fastenings that follow your horse’s natural shape, eliminating pressure at the neck and over the wither. Extra large shoulder gussets give your horse unrestricted comfort without tightness or rubbing for everyday use.
No more mini skirts! All of our rugs have the correct rug depth so your horse is fully covered and protected from the elements, including a substantial tail flap.
Security features include twin chest buckles with D rings allowing you to customise the fit depending on your horses chest size. Adjustable low cross surcingles to keep the rug secure during turnout, and adjustable, detachable leg straps giving you the option to have a tail fillet strap if you prefer.
For added visibility we’ve added reflective strips on all for corner and the tail flap.
One Rug, Build to Adapt. Easily add warmth to this rug as your horse needs with our secure rug liner attachments at the wither and an extra D ring at the leg strap area. Our rug liners are available in 50g, 100g, 200g, 300g giving you plenty of options throughout the year, eliminating the need for multiple turnout rugs.
To give your horse more coverage there is an option to add a detachable neck cover.
Also commonly referred to as a lightweight turnout rug, lightweight turnout blanket or 40g turnout rug.

This 7'0 rug fits my 16hh shire cross but it's a bit tight at the front so I'm going to try a bigger size next time. Much better than his old rugs. Good quality.
Love these rugs always true to size don't leak and keep my boys really warm. The fittings are easy to use as I have arthritis and find some rugs difficult to do up. My husband says they have more clothes than me!!! Sorry no pic of boys in rugs

This is the second rug I have bought from the Big Horse Shop. He is a big cob and they fit him perfectly. They are easy to put on and take off and are very hard wearing. Such a relief to find a rug that doesn't look like a mini skirt on him.

I purchased this rug to replace my old one. It was the first rug that my horse got more than a week out of. He is a big moving friesian and normally broke every chest strap on every rug I tried. He got 4 winters out of his last epic. Hopefully he'll get as long out of his new epic. Love the big tail flaps and the extra lenght for more belly coverage. Brilliant product, brilliant service, brilliant company.
Thank you for your brilliant rugs, have been using the big horse shop for years now and I must say that the quality of all the rugs I have purchased has been excellent, they are easy to fit with very good spring clips for the front and back leg straps belly straps the broad fit is the best fitting rugs I have ever used and the hoods fit my big girls and the rugs don’t move I have one that loves to roll goes over 3-4 times and gets up shakes the rug stays in place never moves, I have a regular fit size also and her rugs are just the same, I would recommend Epic Equestrian’s rugs to all of you that read this review.

First said free gift with first purchase.
Second was free delivery with qualifying spend, however code didn’t work and no response from shop when emailed to query so ended up paying for delivery despite spending significantly over the qualifying spend.

First time purchasing and can I just say brilliant. The fit is great from end to end and depth hurrah a rug that is a proper length.
It was also great to speak on the telephone and chat through options.
This rug fits my mare beautifully, with plenty of room around the shoulders. She looks much happier in this than she did the normal standard fit rugs from different suppliers. The fixtures are also easier to do up, which is a bonus when its pouring down!

Fabulous rug, I purchased a 7'3 for my growing Clydesdale so there is a lot of it but it's not heavy when I go to put it on. I have purchased several Big Horse shop rugs recently, even for my old boy and they all fit perfectly. I wont be buying rugs from any other company again.
