How to Measure Your Horse for the Best Rug Fit

Use a fabric tape measure or twine for precision.
Start at the center of the chest, where the rug would fasten.
Measure along the side of the body, following the curve of the shoulder, in a straight line to the furthest point of the hindquarters - not all the way to the tail. We recommend placing a broom behind your horse's hind and measuring to that point.
For the most accurate results, measure in centimeters and take the measurement 2-3 times.

Broad Fit – Perfect for medium+, heavy horses / ponies, and draft breeds with deep barrels, broad chests, and muscular builds.
Regular Fit – Designed for light - medium weight horses and ponies with a regular sized chest and neck.

We always recommend trying an item on before use, especially when trying a different style. This is in case you need to return it for a smaller size, you are able to do so. If your horse is in-between sizes, we recommend opting for the bigger size, however, with horse rugs that have a back seam, they sit more contoured to the horse's body which can sometimes give a more generous fit. Some customers have found they can sometimes go down 1 size in rugs with a back seam when their horse is in-between sizes.

If your horse has a broad chest, big shoulders or a thick muscular neck, you'll know how hard it is to find a rug that fits properly without rubbing the shoulders, pulling tight at the chest, digging in at the neck and causing soreness over the wither. The Epic Essential No Fill Turnout Rug in Purple is cut specifically for broader horses — with a larger cut neckline, lower chest fastenings and extra large shoulder gussets to give your horse the room they need to move freely and comfortably.

With 0g of filling, this is a pure waterproof rug — ideal for all year round use and perfect for mild, wet days when your horse needs protection from the rain without any added warmth. The 1200 denier ripstop outer and 5,000mm+ waterproof rating with added membrane will keep your horse dry in all conditions, and the breathable antibacterial lining ensures moisture can escape so your horse stays comfortable underneath.

Size Advice

Our turnout rugs are designed true to size and we recommend opting for your usual size. If your horse is in-between sizes we recommend opting for the bigger size.
If your current rug is a good fit in the length from your horses chest to their hind, but it's tight at the chest and shoulder area: try that same size in our rugs.
If you have sized up to get more room in the chest and shoulder area and the overall length from chest to hind is too long: try one size down in our rugs.
We always recommend trying on all products before using incase you need to exchange for a different size.

Remove excess mud and dirt
Machine wash at 30 degrees
Avoid bleach and strong detergents
Dry naturally

To ensure your turnout rug stays breathable and waterproof we recommend hosing the rug down after each use to get rid of any excess mud and dirt.
