We always recommend trying an item on before use, especially when trying a different style. This is in case you need to return it for a smaller size, you are able to do so. If your horse is in-between sizes, we recommend opting for the bigger size, however, with horse rugs that have a back seam, they sit more contoured to the horse's body which can sometimes give a more generous fit. Some customers have found they can sometimes go down 1 size in rugs with a back seam when their horse is in-between sizes.
How to Measure Your Horse for the Best Rug Fit
Finding the right rug size is essential for your horse’s comfort and protection. Follow these simple steps to measure your horse accurately:
- Use a fabric tape measure or twine for precision.
- Start at the center of the chest, where the rug would fasten.
- Measure along the side of the body, following the curve of the shoulder, in a straight line to the furthest point of the hindquarters - not all the way to the tail. We recommend placing a broom behind your horse's hind and measuring to that point.
- For the most accurate results, measure in centimeters and take the measurement 2-3 times.
