Always choose the lightest weight your horse is comfortable in — over-rugging is one of the most common mistakes horse owners make and can cause real stress to your horse. Our 0g is a year-round staple that keeps your horse dry without adding warmth. When temperatures start to drop, a 40g–50g is a smart move — the slight filling creates a small gap between the rug and your horse's coat, which helps prevent condensation building up inside. Our 100g lightweight is great for cooler weather and will keep many horses perfectly comfortable throughout a typical British winter. The 200g is our medium weight, best reserved for sub-zero temperatures or clipped horses — it's warmer than most people expect. And our 300g heavyweight is for the really harsh stuff: ice blasts, extreme cold, or horses that genuinely struggle to hold their body heat.

Our Regular Fit and Broad Fit turnout rugs aren't just the same rug in different sizes — they're designed for completely different horse shapes, with different size charts to match. Our Regular Fit is designed for light to medium build horses — Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Irish Sports Horses, and lighter Cobs — with a cut that follows the proportions of a finer, more streamlined frame. Our Broad Fit is designed for medium+ to heavy horses with a broader chest, bigger shoulders, deeper barrel, and that classic apple-bottom — think Traditional Cobs, Shires, Irish Draughts, Iberian breeds and more. If your horse has ever had a rug that looks up like a mini-skirt, pulls tight at the chest, or rubs the shoulders, Broad Fit is almost certainly what you need.

Yes — all of our turnout rugs are fully waterproof and breathable. Our Epic Essential turnout rugs have a waterproof rating of 5,000mm+ with a breathability rating of 5,000g/m²+. Our Epic Classic turnout rugs step it up with a waterproof rating of 7,000mm+ and the same breathability rating of 5,000g/m²+. The breathability is just as important as the waterproofing — it means moisture from your horse's body can escape, so they stay dry from the inside out too.

Measure from the centre of your horse's chest, along their side, to the furthest point of their hindquarters — this gives you the rug length in centimeters. If your current rug fits well in body length, use the same size in our rugs. If you've previously sized up to get more room in the chest and shoulders, try going one size down — our rugs are cut more generously through the chest and shoulders than most brands, so you may find you don't need that extra size anymore.

Yes — all of our standard turnout rugs are compatible with a matching detachable neck cover, giving you full head-to-tail waterproof coverage when you need it. Our combo turnout rugs come with a fixed integrated neck cover already attached. Neck covers are available in the same Regular and Broad Fit as the rugs, so the fit is consistent from chest to tail. It's one of those additions that makes a real difference on a wet, windy day.

Yes — our rug liner system lets you layer warmth inside your existing rug rather than buying a separate rug for every temperature. Liners are available in 50g, 100g, 200g, and 300g, so you can dial the warmth up on colder days and strip back when the weather improves. Currently, rug liners are compatible with Epic Classic standard neck turnout rugs. Later this year, we'll also be introducing liner compatibility for our Epic Essential turnout rugs — so watch this space.

Both ranges are made to the same fit and sizing, so whichever you choose, the rug will sit correctly on your horse. The difference is in the quality of the fabrics, hardware, and finishes — Epic Classic uses premium materials that you'll notice over time, particularly with heavy use or in harsh conditions. Epic Essential is our brilliant-value range that's genuinely better quality than a lot of what you'll find from bigger brands at a similar price point. The other key difference is that our rug liner system is currently only compatible with Epic Classic standard neck turnout rugs, so if layering warmth is important to you, Classic is the one to go for.
